The excursion is with experienced local guide, and you will be staying in good hotels. Look especially forward to Lanjia Lodge with breathtaking views of the Mekong River.
This roundtrip in Northern Thailand caters to everyone with an interest in nature, ethnicity, and culture.
DAY 1 (-/Lunch/-)
You leave Chiang Mai in the morning by minivan to Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in Thailand. Here you will visit a beautiful waterfall and reach the top of Doi Inthanon which has breathtaking and beautiful views of the northern Thailand. Then we embark on a short and easy trekking trip (duration 1,5 hours) in the area to explore the fascinating fauna of this national park. After lunch we continue our journey westward to the border with Burma, and reach Mae Hong Son in the afternoon. In the evening we visit the busy market in Mae Hong Son.

DAY 2 (Breakfast/Lunch/-)
After breakfast, we sail by longtail boat to visit the Long Neck Karen. Long Neck Karen is also known as the Giraffe Women. They carry the characteristic rings around their necks and are one of the most breathtaking ethnic groups in this part of Thailand. After lunch we continue towards Pai, where we visit one of the beautiful caves along the way. Pai is known as a very relaxed town in the mountains of Northern Thailand. There is a great atmosphere in the town of Pai, and you will find small markets and cozy restaurants. Many use Pai as a halfway between Chiang Mai, ethnic groups and beautiful nature experiences in Northern Thailand.

DAY 3 (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Today we start with a visit to a few highlights in Pai and then proceeds to the Lisu Lodge. After arriving at Lisu Lodge we will take a walk through the city, where we will experience the Lisu people. We begin at the Ton Lung temple where we see their herbal garden. Then we see how the locals live and stop for tea at the local Shaman’s.
Back at Lisu Lodge we enjoy lunch and in the afternoon we take a bike ride in the Lisu village. In the evening there will be dinner with a traditional Lisu dance show.

DAY 4 (Breakfast/Lunch/-)
After breakfast we continue our trip to Chiang Dao elephant camp where we first have to experience the elephants bathe, and then how they work. Then, we go for bamboo rafting down the river.
We continue to Tha Ton and the scenic Maekok River Village Resort.
The rest of the day/evening at leisure.

Day 5 (Breakfast/Lunch/-)
You start the day with a bike ride in the Tha Ton area. Here you will have the chance to experience the local life and the many orchards in the area.
Then we drive through the mountains on to Mae Sai, which is the border town with Burma. Here we make a stop and have time to consider and explore life in and around the border town.
We then continue by bus to the Golden Triangle, where a nice lunch awaits us.
In the afternoon we will visit the Opium Museum and sail on the Mekong River between the three countries, Burma, Laos, and Thailand.
We stay at Imperial Golden Triangle Hotel in the Golden Triangle, and you will have the rest of the day/evening at leisure.

DAY 6 (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
After breakfast we continue to Lanjia Lodge, where there is a spectacular view of the Mekong River. After arriving in Lanjia Lodge we get a presentation of the two hill tribes we will visit (Hmong and Lahu). We take a walk through both cities and on the way visit the various Shamans, who invites us in for tea.
In the afternoon, a Hmong woman shows us the art of making a batik handkerchief. Dinner will be served on our terrace, and there will be a traditional Hmong dance show after dinner.

DAY 7 (Breakfast/Lunch/-)
After breakfast, we travel to Chiang Saen (the ancient capital of the Lanna Kingdom) by minibus, and then we continue to Chiang Rai. Here you will visit the White Temple (Wat Arun) and an orphanage founded by a Swedish couple in 1989. After lunch we depart for Chiang Rai airport or hotel. You can also choose to go back to Chiang Mai.
