Chiang Rai has about 62,000 inhabitants and is the largest commercial center servicing the Golden Triangle border region of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. Chiang Rai is often used as a transit point for trips further north such as Mae Sai (Myanmar), the Golden Triangle, Chiang Saen, and Chiang Klong (Laos).

This is an exciting day excursion from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle. Departure from Chiang Mai at approx. 07.00 and expected return at approx. 20.00. A day trip to Chiang Rai, located about 150 km from Chiang Mai city.

We begin with a visit to some hot springs and afterwards we are going to experience Chiang Rai and the White Temple. Then, we visit the Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai where the three countries meet (Thailand, Burma, and Laos). You will see the boats on the Mekong River at the Golden Triangle which are scrambling to transport passengers and goods across borders. In the afternoon we visit Mae Sai, the Burmese border, where you can enjoy shopping and a little leisure time.

Note that you can expect to arrive in Chiang Mai around 20.00 – 21.00
