Day 2 (breakfast / lunch)
– Experience Doi Suthep temple

– Boat trip on the Ping River
One of the highlights of a visit to Chiang Mai’s Doi Suthep mountain located just outside of Chiang Mai city. We visit the top of the mountain and the temple of Wat Phra Doi Suthep, which is undoubtedly one of the most important Buddhist temples in northern Thailand. From the temple we have a unique view of Chiang Mai city. Wat Doi Suthep was founded in 1383, but was first built a road there in 1935 by Karen people.
After our visit at Wat Doi Suthep we go to the beautiful waterfall Huay Kaew. This waterfall stretches over 3 floors and is 10 meters high.
We leave the waterfall and drive along Huay Kaew Road, passing Chiang Mai University and stops at Studio Naenna. This textile mill founded by Patricia Chessman in 1987 and exhibits handcrafted quality fabrics prepared according to old traditions. This weaving is very famous and P. Chessman is working at Chiang Mai University as a lecturer in the traditional arts.
We enjoy a nice lunch.
Our city tour continues to the Old Town where we show how the famous Sunday Market takes place. Continue to Chinatown where we go exploring in vegetable and flower market. The tour continues to Wat Chai Mongkol which is the most active working temple in the city. Here we can really see how Thais use the temple to practice their religion. From the temple we take a boat on the Ping River and see the city from the water. We end up just outside of Chiang Mai where we are greeted in a nice house and get served some delicious fruit. Then we will be transported back to the hotel.
