BANGKOK HIGHLIGHTS
Bangkok Highlights start from your hotel at 08.30, where our guide will take us by sky train down to the dock to board a longtail boat. From here we sail a way down the main river, the Chao Phraya River that runs through Bangkok. We pass the big hotels and under the highway bridges before we sail into the narrow Klongs (canals).
Already in the first few meters it will amaze you at how different life is on this side of the river. We guide us through clone like and observe the merchants sailing around in small boats, where, for example skewers of meat grilled directly on the boat. We are accompanied by smiling and waving Thais through this world where water is the lifeblood and contrasts ruler. Side by side is these impressive, streamlined teak wood houses and tin shacks that barely contain the needful.
Bangkok Highlights then continues to water past temples and orchards from an orchid farm. Here it is possible to look at the beautiful plants and our guide, happy to share his knowledge of orchid species growing and caring.
We continue to Grand Palace and already at the entrance to the Grand Palace, begun in 1783, felt the unique religious atmosphere that prevails in and around all of Bangkok’s temples. Royal Palace features include a miniature version of Angkor Wat, the impressive stupa of gold (Phra Si Ratana Chedi) and Thailand’s largest shrine – Wat Phra Keo. Continue north to Wat Pho by tuk tuk, which is Bangkok’s oldest temple and houses the country’s largest Reclining Buddha, which is 46 m long and 15 m high.
After Wat Pho we take you to a small restaurant, where we will enjoy lunch.
After lunch we continue with local bus-boat to China Town, where you will have time to experience this busy area of Bangkok. Finally your guide will help you back to your hotel by taxi.
Remember proper attire for temple visits. This means that the shoulders must be covered and closed shoes. At The Grand Palace you must wear long pants. (you can rent them at the entrance).
