The meeting point for this great Thai cooking cours is Exit 3 of Phra Khanong BTS Skytrain station.
You will be warmly greeted before walking a short distance (only 10 minutes) to the fresh market of Phra Khanong selling clothes and fresh food which will make up the raw ingredients for the cookery course that will follow.
For those of you that have not yet visited a typically Thai “fresh market”, you are in for a treat for the senses. Almost every one of your five senses will be stimulated by the exotic food, vegetables and fruits on offer.
Most, if not all of the produce comes fresh from the farms that surround Bangkok and further afield like Isaan in the north east corner of Thailand or Chantaburi near the Cambodian border.
At the market, you will see and smell every conceivable food type on offer ranging from fresh or dried chillies to dried pork and other delicacies from all over Thailand. Thai markets are well known for their extremely fresh produce and even freshly caught seafood can be bought here shipped straight from the fishermen’s net to the market in a matter of hours.
After a leisurely stroll walking around the market, you will be guided towards the adjoining canal where a boat will be waiting to take you on a tour of Phra Khanong canal and a visit to the Mae Nak Temple.
After your fascinating canal boat tour of Phra Khanong and its surrounding districts, the boat will stop outside the house where the cooking class will take place.
