DOI INTHANON NATIONAL PARK
The trip up to Doi Inthanon Mountain offers many great outlook posts as well as some of Thailand’s largest waterfalls. Doi Inthanon National Park has lots of interesting things to experience. You’ll quickly see that the Doi Inthanon National Park not only has Thailand’s highest mountain, but offers so much more, such as coffee plantations, a rich birdlife, flowers, and vegetable greenhouses.
You need to bring some warmer clothes as there is quite chilly at the top, and the air is very thin. The engines are working hard to bring guests up, and you will be grateful for good brakes when you have to get back down.
Great full-day excursion to Doi Inthanon National Park.
The trip includes lunch.
You will be picked up at your hotel in Chiang Mai around 08:00 to 08:30 AM. Then we head south, and along the way you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
On the way up to Doi Inthanon Mountain we will visit the Wachiratan Waterfall. This waterfall is big and powerful, and you will feel the mist and see colorful rainbows. The mist from the waterfall however make it a little challenging to be able to take photos as you will get a little damp. We continue our trip up and visit Siritarn Waterfall, and a Karen Hill Tribe Village.
Near the very top of Doi Inthanon, we are going to visit the two beautiful Chedis/Pagodas which were built in honor of the King and the Queen’s 60th birthdays, respectively, in 1987 and 1993. It is a stunningly beautiful sight that meets us, just when we catch a glimpse of the area. To get up to the towers you use a long staircase, but there is also an escalator for each tower so the disabled will be able to experience the towers as well as the stunning views here – we’re up in almost 2,5 kilometers’ altitude. The air seems wonderfully fresh and thin. The whole area is beautiful, surrounded by a colorful Rhododendron Park.
We drive the last almost 5 km up to the top of the mountain Doi Inthanon (2565), so you’ll now be on the list of the relatively few Europeans who have visited Thailand’s highest mountain. At noon you will be served a lovely lunch at a nice Thai restaurant. Lunch is included in the tour price. We will be back in Chiang Mai at around 05.00 PM.
