The weather has been up and down doing July month with a lot of rain, but in August month the sun came back and the last couple of weeks has been very good with not much rain and a lot of sun. Also the ocean is more calm now in August and it is possible to do activities on the ocean again like diving and snorkeling.

New on Koh Lanta Island:
A new bank has open now outside Southern Lanta Resort. The bank is located on the road in the new shopping center and people do not need to travel to Saladan anymore to change money, but can use the new bank at Southern Lanta Resort.
Koh Lanta General:
July month was very quiet on Ko Lanta and most resorts was nearly empty on the island. But at the end of July and beginning of August more people started to arrive and the island got a little more busy. But still there is a lot of space for everyone on the island. As the good weather arrive in the beginning of August also the ocean went calm again and the beaches on the island looks very nice and diving is again an option on Ko Lanta.
Doing low season most resorts on Ko Lanta will put up green nets as on below picture to project the trees against the strong wind.
The government is still working on making the road wider on each side from the main village Saladan along the road up Klong Dao Beach. The plan is to make a walk way as well along the road, so that people can walk to Saladan. Also they plan to make light along the walk way. All this should be ready for the next high season.
News: Eastside / Old Town:
The eastside on Ko Lanta is very quiet doing the summer, which makes it perfect for a visit to see the local life on Ko Lanta. Below is pictures from the most famous village on the island, which is called Lanta Old Town. From the hotels on the west coast there is around 20-25 min by taxi to Old Town, where people can walk in the streets of Old Town and visit one of the small restaurants with view on Lanta Noi and the mainland down to Trang province.
News: Saladan & Klong Dao Beach:
The new shopping plaza a little outside Saladan at the Sunday marked is close to being ready. The new plaza will have restaurants, shops and a fruit marked. The pictures is taken from Evolution Tour office.
News: Phra Ae Beach (Long Beach)
Outside Best Western Maya Lanta Resort more shop units are being build and should be ready for the coming high season. Hopefully this will bring a little more shops to the area of Andaman Lanta Resort, Holiday Villa and Beach Western Maya Resort.
News: Klong Khong Beach / Klong Nin Beach / Klong Hin Beach / Klong Jaak Beach
After Klong Nin Beach on the way to Kan Tiang Bay and the National Park more bungalows are being build up in the mountain view great sea view.
The road leading down to the National Park is still very exciting to travel on and people need to bring a good car to make it the last 300-400 meters to the entrance of the Park. The National Park has a nice beach with monkeys to visit and also smaller jungle treks can be arrange in the area.
