The weather has been up and down since beginning of May with rain, sun and a strong wind. In the beginning of May we got quit big waves and for a few days the boats could not go out to sea for diving and snorkeling. The ocean is now more calm and all boats are once again running for daily excursion on the sea.

New on Koh Chang Island:
The 1st Ko Chang World Music & Fruit Festival was held on Klong Prao beach from 17-19 May 2008. The Festival was a great success and was organize by Singha Corporation, Tourism Authority of Thailand and the DASTA.

Koh Chang General:
The low season has arrived to Ko Chang and the island is very quiet now with not many tourist on the island. Mostly Thai families from Bangkok visit the islands this months with some long weekends.

Most hotels on Ko Chang has now also started with their special summer promotion and clients can enjoy great offers from all the hotels on Ko Chang, Ko Mak and Ko Kood until end October 2008.

Bangkok Airways has also cancelled the middle flight and is now flying 2 times a day to Trat Airport as here:

- PG301: Depart 08.00am / Arrival 09.05am
- PG307: Depart 16.50pm / Arrival 17.55pm

Trat Airport – Bangkok Airport
- PG302: Depart 09.35am / Arrival 10.30am
- PG308: Depart 18.25pm / Arrival 19.20pm

Since middle of April we have had quit some rain falling on Ko Chang and we now have waters in the rivers again after a dry high season. Also the waterfalls on the island now start looking much more beautiful as the rain fall on Ko Chang.


News: White Sand Beach:
The Government is making the road wider in White Sand Beach as on the picture below.

More shops for rental is ready in the south end of White Sand Beach next to Ban Pu Resort / Alina Grand Hotel. Behind the main street you find more shops as the picture below and some units has already open with dive shops and restaurants.

News: Kai Bae Beach:
More shops outside the Cliff Beach Resort in the north end of Kai Bae Beach will soon be ready.

News: Road from Ko Chang to Siem Reap in Cambodia:
Evolution Tour went for an inspection trip to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) in Cambodia in the beginning of May. The trip was overland from Ko Chang and gave a good impression of the road conditions from Ko Chang to Siem Reap in Cambodia. In Thailand the road was very good from the ferry pier (Ao Thammachet Pier) to Aranyaprathet border. From the border the road conditions changed a lot into a dirt road. From the border (Poipet / Aranyaprathet) over to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) the distance was 152 kilometers. Only 20 kilometers of the 152 kilometers was coverred with real asphalt road. The time from the border to Siem Reap is around 3,5 hours by private van and 4 hours by private minivan. By join bus from the border to Siem Reap the time is around 4,5 – 5 hours.

The duration is as here:
- Ko Chang Hotel – Ferry Pier (Ao Sapparot) = 20 min
- Ferry = 30 min
- Ferry Pier (Ao Thammachat Pier) – Border Aranyaprathet = 3,5 – 4 hours
- Border crossing = 45 min
- Border Poipet (Cambodian side) – Siem Reap = 4 – 5 hours

Total the trip will take around 8-9 hours by private car and around 11 hours by bus
