June / July 2009

The weather was good in June with a lot of sun and calm ocean, but in July we got a lot of rain on Koh Chang. Actually we got all the rain for the rainy season in July this summer. Below picture is from White Sand Beach in June with great weather.

New on Koh Chang:
Summer is the time for River Rafting by Evolution Tour. We take the clients up to the mountain Soi Dao near the border to Cambodia and clients can enjoy a 2 hours river rafting with a lot of fun.

Koh Chang General:

As most places in Thailand also Koh Chang was very quiet in June and July. Only from the end of July the arrival numbers on Ko Chang is picking up a little. Most shops and restaurants together with all the hotels are still open and clients can still enjoy diving and snorkeling doing their holiday on Koh Chang.

Doing the rainy season we also get more water in the rivers around Koh Chang and as in below picture it is possible to swim in the rivers and even take a small kayak tour.

News: White Sand Beach:

Kacha Resort in the south end of White Sand Beach is soon ready to open and is in the moment making new shop units on the road.

In the south end of White Sand Beach the new building at Changburi Resort will be finish very soon. As you can see on below picture some of the units is already opening now.

News: Klong Prao Beach:
Between Koh Chang Resort and Klong Prao Resort on Klong Prao Beach the government is making a new public access to the beach.

Soon we will have one more 7-eleven on Ko Chang. The new 7-eleven will open in Klong Prao just outside Barali Beach Resort, Tropicana Resort and Panviman Resort. The new 7-eleven should be ready in a few month.

The VJ Plaza that burned down in December 2008 is now rebuild and new shops are being build. This will be nice for the surrounding hotels such as Paradise Resort, Koh Chang Resort and Coconut Beach Resort as the clients will have more shops just nearby.

News: Kai Bae Beach / Lonely Beach / Bang Bao:
Our famous fisherman village Bang Bao in south Koh Chang is a little quiet now and most of the snorkeling boats don’t go out as there is not much clients. But it is still and fantastic place with the best seafood on the island.

For 2 years ago the government planned to make a ring road on Koh Chang connecting Bang Bao with Salak Phet in the south end. Now 2 years later they have stopped the plan and you can drive with a motorbike in from both sides a couple of kilometers until the road ends.
