Thai New Year ”Songkran Festival” (13-17 April)

The biggest event all over Thailand is of cause the Thai New Year also called “Songkran Festival” On Koh Chang Island the event is in the period 13-17 April and on Koh Chang all resorts are fully booked during Songkran, because every year many Thai families visit the island to celebrate Songkran on Koh Chang. The Songkran Festival is a big water festival and everywhere on the island you will find a water fight. The meaning is that you will get washed clean from the bad things you have done during the last year.

Loy Krathong Festival (November)

The Loy Krathong festival is without questions the most beautiful festival of all Thailand’s many festivals. The Loy Krathong is normally in the beginning of November and is to honor the spirit of the water. On this full mone day all Thai’s makes small boats from banana leafs and in the evening they put the boats on the rivers or the ocean together with friends and families. In the small boats they put a coin and a small piece of hair for good luck. On the beach you can try to send a balloon to the air as you see on the picture. It is said that you can test how long you love will last with your boyfriend or girlfriend by the distance the balloon flight away.
