Sam Roi Yod National Park

Khao Sam Roi Yod is a marine national park in the Sam Roi Yod district, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

The park was established in 1966 and was the first coastal national park in Thailand. The name Khao Sam Roi Yod means mountain with 300 peaks, and describes the landscape of the park quite well.

In the western part of the park is a flat area with still water all year round in the large freshwater marsh, Thung Sam Roi Yod, which covers an area of about 36.8 square kilometers, making it the largest freshwater marsh in Thailand. It constitutes an important environment for large numbers of birds, amphibians, reptiles, and small mammals.

Close to the coast are limestone islands such as Sattakut, Kho Ram, Nom Sao, Rawing, and Khi Nok. The timber-clad mountains form a unique natural beauty. The park offers a wide range of experiences, including fine sandy beaches, spectacular caves, amazing vantage points, coastal islands, forest trails and boat excursions, wildlife estuaries, and mangrove forests – all within a relatively small area. The unique representation of many different animals makes Sam Roi Yod one of the most interesting national parks in Thailand.
