Floating Market & Rose Garden

The floating market in Bangkok became world famous after it was used in a legendary James Bond scene. It was here Roger Moore milled around in a longtail boat in pursuit of villains. Today it is a major tourist attraction in the Bangkok area despite the fact that the market actually is in Samut Songkhram, an hour's drive southwest of the city.

The Floating Market (Damnoen Saduak) consists of a number of small channels, filled with small boats managed by cunning Thai ladies always ready to sell their products and fight for the best position with their competition. The floating market is hot, humid, and busy, but incredibly fun!

Another major tourist attraction, which is offered along with the Floating Market, is Rose Garden Riverside in Nakhon Pathom province, situated along the Tachin River. But do not be fooled by the name. It's not just a botanical garden. Although it started as a Rose Garden and restaurant over 40 years ago, it has over the years developed into a cultural center where there is a hotel, restaurants, and a spa. Today, many foreign tourists mainly visit the Rose Garden to see the internationally renowned Thai Village Cultural Show.

Located around the Thai Village are about twelve different bases, where you can learn more about the daily traditional life in Thailand. These include Dance and Musical Instruments, Traditional Pottery, Silk Processing, Traditional Weaving, Thai Country Kitchen, Orchid Nursery, Thai Herbal Pavilion, Bamboo Dancing, rice cultivation, and more.
