Experience the beautiful golden temple Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep located on Doi Suthep Mountain in Chiang Mai. Doi Suthep is the most sacred temple in Chiang Mai and you have a stunningly beautiful view over the city of Chiang Mai from the top of Doi Suthep Mountain. Doi Suthep is approximately 3,500 meters above sea level. There are 306 steps up to Doi Suthep (there is also an elevator).

After Doi Supthep, we visit the village of Meo Doi Pui Mountain. We visit the town's museum where you can learn more about the history and lifestyle.

 

Extras: A visit to Phu Ping Palace (open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) costs an extra 50 THB per person. Phu Ping Palace is the king's winter palace.

Once inside the temple grounds, visitors take off their shoes. Visitors must be properly dressed with shoulders and knees covered. The original chedi is the most sacred area inside the Doi Suthep temple. Within the temple areas you will find pagodas, statues, bells, and other shrines.

One of the main highlights of any trip to the Rose of the North, Chiang Mai, is a visit to the famous Doi Suthep Mountain on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. Doi Suthep (1,676 m) is one of the two peaks of mountains located west of Chiang Mai, the second peak is known as Doi Pui. On this excursion we will visit the top of Doi Suthep where we will have a spectacular view of Chiang Mai city.

One of the most beautiful temples in Northern Thailand is located on the top of Doi Suthep. Wat Doi Phratat Suithep is very sacred and was founded in 1383. It is a major symbol of the Buddhist traditions of Northern Thailand. A road to the temple was built in 1935 by the Karen people.
